Guitarist and composer who’s jazz work encompasses Brazilian, and classical Indian music aesthetics Recognized as a distinguished guitar master, musician, and educator.
He has performed at Jazz Yatra, Jakarta Jazz, Perth and Adelaide Arts Festivals, Clusone Jazz Festival, Japan World Expo, Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Jazz and Adelaide International Guitar Festival. His long list of collaborations includes: Sandy Evans, Vince Jones, V M Bhatt, Martin Taylor, Slava Grigoryan, Don Burrows, Dale Barlow, Mike Stern, and Matt McMahon.
A recipient of the Australia Council Music Fellowship, Strazz also received APRA Nominations and a Jazz APRA Award. His latest release with Matt McMahon, 2@1, was nominated for ‘best jazz album of the year’ AIR Awards 08. He has released several critically acclaimed albums as leader.
He is currently a Creative PhD research Scholar at Macquarie University working on his thesis about Improvisation. New projects include: The release of Eastern Blues CD in May 2012, and the forthcoming July 2012 recording of the Silk Road double Concerto for Guitar, Piano and Cross-cultural Jazz Orchestra.
