Formed in 1996, Baecastuff’s unique approach quickly established itself as one of the premier improvising bands in the Sydney scene recording three albums of original material and playing at Jazz and Arts festivals throughout Australia including the Wangarratta, Armidale, Noumea and Darling Harbour Jazz festivals and appearing many times at clubs such as the Basement and the Side On Café. Mike Nock approached the band in 2001 to record for Naxos Jazz which saw an international release and great reviews. The individual members have all gone on to establish themselves at the highest level and have recently started performing regularly again with a new found energy and a wealth of ideas.
